Description
A “veve” is a religious symbol used to represent a “Loa” (spirit) of the Voodoo religion. This veve represents “Maman Brigitte,” also known as Manman Brigitte or Gran Brigitte, a powerful loa (spirit) in Haitian Vodou. As the wife of Baron Samedi, she is the matron of cemeteries, protecting graves that are marked with a cross. She is known for her firey temperment, freely speaking her mind, aiding in both physical and spiritual healing, and lovingly guiding souls into the afterlife. She can also be invoked to exact retribution on those who have wronged her followers, particularly in cases involving women, such as domestic violence or unfaithful partners.
